Hi! I’m Ellie, a writer, explorer, life coach, and fundraiser to help end homelessness in the San Francisco Bay Area. If want to live a more authentic, creative, delicious life, stay in the loop:
The truth is, you already know.
You already know what job you’d like to have.
You already know whether or not you should stay with your partner.
You already know what would make you happy.
You know the kind of life to live to lower your stress.
You might already be tempted to close this tab and refresh your email for the thousandth time instead. That’s okay! It’s okay if you already know, but feel like you don’t. It’s okay if admitting you know means changing things and taking action and you just don’t feel ready for that. It’s okay if you feel anxious. You’re not alone.
I’ve been teaching meditation for five years and meditating for close to twenty. I’m no guru, though. I’ve been sober for eight years. Before that? Well. I had to get sober to start telling the truth, and to admit I already knew. That doesn’t have to be your path. But it was part of mine. Going really hard in the direction of “I don’t know! Save me!”
Welcome to your gentle guide back home to yourself, to your power. We’re all in this together. I think everyone has something they already know but feel hesitant about.
Even your body already knows. One of my favorite mindfulness tools I teach clients and students is muscle testing. It’s based on the idea that your body knows the truth 100% of the time. You can simply ask your body, and your body will tell you. Isn’t that amazing? We live in a time where going to space is a regular occurrence, disembodied robot consciousness is a part of our daily lives, and it’s cool to eat algae. The amazing has become the ordinary. And the most powerful intelligence that’ll help you sleep better, live freer, and be happier, is actually the meat suit you carry around with you all day.
Take a deep breath and imagine the version of you who is willing to admit the truth she already knows. Who lives it.
How does she walk?
How does she talk to herself? And others?
Does she dress in a way that makes her feel good, or out of fear over what others will say?
Does she carry guilt and shame, or is she light and free?
Where is she going?
How does she sleep at night?
Admitting you know the truth is scary. It requires courageous action, a step in a new direction. Sometimes, living your truth means relationships and jobs fall away.
But the come-up? You’ll have your freedom.
Real freedom. Free-on-the-inside freedom.
And a power will pool within you. You won’t need something outside you to determine how good you feel.
I hope you’ll take some time today to unplug, disengage from the apps and other people’s opinions, and guide yourself home to the one who knows.
Hint: it’s you.

Describe the version of you who already knows. What’s one thing you can do like her today?
Are you (gasp!) saying.. we can’t buy ourselves the truth, that it’s already available (for free!)!! And the meat suit had me 😂😂😂
